Looking for an adventure? Looking for a chance to grow in your leadership, character and relationship with God? Looking for an opportunity to see transformation in your generation? Look no further.

The Youthscape Leadership Year puts you in the heart of a fast-moving organisation that is relentlessly pursuing God’s heart for young people. You’ll get an unprecedented range of experiences and opportunities to lead and serve teenagers in schools, churches and the local community, and you’ll be part of a team developing resources, events, training and support for youth workers right across the UK. We’ll invest in you, helping you to grow your lifelong relationship with God, your character and your skills. And we’ll help you to understand and grow in leadership – giving you the very best grounding for whatever comes next. If you share a passion for God, for leadership and for the emerging generations, then this might just be the perfect way to invest a year of your life.

A core part of the leadership year includes attending an eight week programme called ‘School of Theology’ which will take place at St Mellitus in London. We believe that this is one of the best short courses out there when it comes to exploring theology, and this course will deepen your understanding of the Christian story, as well as stretch your faith and imagination. Every month you will take a day out of your usual schedule and take part in a Youthscape Leadership Year training day. Each of these sessions will focus on a different element of Christian leadership. You'll also attend monthly evening training we host for local youth workers, exploring insights into youth culture, youth work skills and biblical reflection. On top of that, you'll get a free place on all the equipping days Youthscape run for youth workers from across the UK at our base in Luton. These training days are delivered by experts within their fields. As part of the leadership year you will have the opportunity to attend these days and meet other youth workers from across the country.

Leadership can’t be learnt in a classroom. That’s why a significant part of the Youthscape Leadership Year allows you to put all your training  the into practice. If you join us on the Youthscape Leadership Year, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced youth workers on the ground in Luton, and practice leadership in a setting that is right for you. You will be given a variety of opportunities throughout the year, but will spend the majority of your time working in our Bute Mills Drop-in, in secondary schools in Luton and supporting youth work in local churches.

At the start of every term the Youthscape team head off on retreat. These retreats are a significant moment in our years as we spend time with God, reflect on all that we have done the previous term, and pray about what is ahead. You will join us for these retreats, and as a member of the leadership year, will arrive early for an additional half-day of teaching and worship.

We are not alone. We are privileged enough to work alongside many other organisations and youth workers across the country. During the year you will have the opportunity to visit six of the leading ministry organisations from across the UK.
