The run up to Christmas is always full of busyness and excitement. There’s presents to be bought, carol services to attend, parties to go to and schoolwork to complete before the term ends. It can be hard to find time in this season of celebration to reflect on advent and the significance Jesus birth.
Advent from Scratch is a new twist on a festive classic. Rather than chocolate each day, this advent calendar has 25 scratch-off panels which guide young people on a journey through the Christmas story. From the 1st to the 25th of December, this poster encourages young people to take time out each day to study short Bible passages and dwell on the verses they read.
How does it work?
Each day in the run up to Christmas, young people must find the corresponding number date, read the Bible passage next to that number and, using a coin or other item, scratch-off the panel to reveal a question or prayer point underneath. The hope for this advent calendar is that it facilitates a moment of reflection and re-focus each day.
