Lamentations

Lamentations is a unique book made up of 5 poems, they are reflective about the fall of Jerusalem and the Jewish people being exiled. Biblical poems of lament are a way of drawing everyone, including God's, attention to all the bad things that are happening that should not be. They are an opportunity to pour out and process emotion. They are a place to process our confusion and ask questions. It involves themes of grief, shame, loneliness, God’s justice, God’s faithfulness, prayer and the need for God’s mercy.

It’s a book that is unafraid to declare their pain and ask God where he is. There isn’t a nice neat conclusion to the experience of pain and suffering, much like we may experience.
