Join a team
We need a whole bunch of amazing team members to help us run Satellites. There’s something for every skill set so if you’re available and willing to get stuck in… Keep reading!
Who can apply?
We’re looking for some hard-working, servant-hearted people who want to enable young people to meet with Jesus, to learn how to keep him at the centre of their lives and to help us make Satellites the best event it can be. There are several different teams to apply for so there should be something to suit everyone’s skill set – from practical to administrative, welcoming people as they arrive to tidying the site up as they leave.
Some roles are for 18+ but we also have our popular 50/50 ticket for 16 and 17 year olds. You’ll serve on a team for part of the day and receive a reduced ticket rate for the event. (You can tick this on your application form, and then the reduced rate will be added once your application has been accepted)
What's expected of me?
Each team is slightly different – have a read below for more information – but you can expect to work for around 8 hours a day. Outside of those times you can enjoy the event! Your team leaders will be in contact in the weeks running up to the event with more information about your specific roles.
All Satellites team members will be asked to attend an on-site briefing the evening
BEFORE the event starts and required to help with pack down until midday on the day
AFTER the event (which is also when most delegates leave as the event officially finishes at midnight).
So, for 2025 the Team Dates are 5th – 11th August 2025
Please factor this into your planning as it is crucial that all team attend these elements at the beginning and end of the event.
We hope that everyone serving on team has a brilliant week – playing their part in making Satellites happen, meeting new people, building solid friendships with the other volunteers and serving young people as they journey with us to explore what it looks like to put God at the centre of everything we do. The amount of time each team member serves will vary, but you should expect to be on shift for a minimum of 6 hours and maximum of 10 hours each day. In return for your hard work, we’d love to offer you:
A free ticket to Satellites
This means you’ll get to participate in the rest of the Satellites programme when you’re not on shift, plus access to all our awesome venues.
Free meals
Fantastic news… we’ll feed you for the week! You’ll just need to let us know if you have any dietary requirements, which you can do when you complete your application form.
Team training
We’ll make sure that you have the best training to ensure that you’re fully equipped in the role that you are serving on. We’ll start the event, the day before, with a whole team meeting, worship, prayer and a team meal.
Free camping
We’ll have a team campsite specifically for those serving the event, so that you can meet other team members and hang out when you’re not serving. Alternatively, if you’re coming along with your church, you’ll be able to camp with your youth group for the week – just let us know your preference when you apply.
Please note: you’ll need to bring your own tent and camping equipment.
Exclusive venue: Teams Hub
We’ll be making space for a lounge area where you can relax when you’re not on shift, with free tea and coffee on tap throughout the day plus access to charging points and shelter from any rain! There’ll also be a lovely team on hand to chat and pray if you wish.
What are the different teams?
As we mentioned before, there’s something for everyone. Have a look below to read more about each team or choose ‘I’ll serve anywhere’ if you’re not sure or you can’t find your team on the booking form.
I'll serve anywhere
Have you read through all the different options, but still not sure which team to pick? When applying, select the ‘I’ll serve anywhere’ team and we’ll allocate you to where we need the most help! Please make sure you tell us a little bit about you, your skills and what you enjoy doing when filling in your application form so we can find a spot on a team that we think you’ll love.
(If you’ve had a private conversation with the Satellites team about a role that’s not listed, please select this and send us an email at teams@wearesatellites.co.uk)
Additional Needs - Kids
+-We’d love to recruit a small team to support any of the young people on-site who have additional needs. To join this team, you’ll need specific skills and experience of working with young people or children who have additional needs.
Additional Needs - Youth
+-We’d love to recruit a small team to support any of the young people on-site who have additional needs. To join this team, you’ll need specific skills and experience of working with young people or children who have additional needs.
Café teams
+-Know your espressos from your cappuccinos? A boss at latte art? We need loads of awesome volunteers to help run our different cafés on site. Our cafes offer everything from flat whites and speciality coffees through to slushies and milkshakes. You’ll be working with your team leader to serve drinks, use the tills to take payments, keep the snacks stocked and make sure the venue is clean and tidy. All teams will receive appropriate training for the café they will be serving on.
Canvas
+-Canvas is a space dedicated to exploring creativity. We’re going to use this venue to run loads of different workshops and classes – covering everything from art to TikTok making, creative writing to gardening! We’ll make space to display some of the pieces created throughout the event too, which could then spark inspiration for others. We’re looking for a small team to help facilitate some of these sessions; they will be run by someone especially skilled in the field so although you won’t need to be a pro artist yourself, you’ll need to have some interest in the creative arts.
Canvas - Doodle team
+-Doodle is our space that runs within the main venue during mains sessions. Young people come along who like to engage with teaching by journalling or doodling and who will benefit from doing that in a slightly quieter space than in the midst of everyone in the main session. If this sounds like you and you’d like to be part of the team overseeing this space, then this could be the team for you
Catering
+-We’ll have about 400 volunteers serving at Satellites, so we need a whole bunch of brilliant people on our catering team to help feed them all. You’ll be responsible for helping our team leaders to prepare the food, dish up and clear away at the end of each meal.
This team has loads of fun – come prepared with your favourite playlist as the tunes are always a big part of this team!
Comms
+-From managing all on-site radio traffic to coordinating the response to any emergencies, the Comms team play a vital role at Satellites to ensure that the event runs smoothly. You’ll need to be organised, calm, good at communicating and able to keep calm under pressure – plus bonus points if you already know your phonetic alphabet for chatting on the radio!
Detached
+-As well as having heaps of fun at Satellites, it’s important that we make sure to look after those delegates who might be having a trickier time. We’re recruiting a detached team, including a few experienced mental health first aiders, who can be around to provide extra support for young people on-site.
This team will seek to engage with and chat to those young people who have perhaps left the main sessions or are hanging around on their own not wanting to join in activities at various points of the day.
First aid
+-If you’re a qualified first aider or medical professional, we’d love you to join our first aid team at Satellites. Whilst we’re hoping that no one gets hurt or sick at Satellites, these things do sometimes happen and so we’re looking for a friendly first aid team to be the first point of call for any medical situations that may arise. You’ll need to be confident at making decisions about the best course of treatment if someone gets hurt, and able to stay calm under pressure.
Headstrong
+-Headstrong is a hub for activities around mental health and wellbeing. That means there'll be short talks about dealing with things like depression and anxiety, but also lots of chilled out activities that use the arts to explore the theme of wellbeing. The venue is linked to Youthscape’s mental health project called Headstrong - you can check out more at beheadstrong.uk. We’re looking for enthusiastic helpers who can organise games and creative activities and who care about helping young people with their mental health.
Hosts
+-Info
+-If you’re super friendly and incredibly organised, we’d love you to think about joining our Info team. This team are responsible for helping all delegates with any of their practical needs on site – from booking queries to broken wristbands, questions about the programme or lost property. You’ll need to be approachable and confident when chatting with both young people and youth leaders, plus able to problem solve!
Kids team - Mites (1 – 4)
+-Do you love working with younger children? We’re excited that Satellites is going to be an epic week for the kids of all the youth leaders on site – and we need a brilliant team to help make that happen. The younger ones have a main session in the morning where they can take part in games, crafts and lots of other fun activities and the kids on-site at Satellites will be encouraged to explore what it looks like to put God at the centre of their lives in a way that is suitable and engaging for them, as well as making friends and having a lot of fun along the way! In the afternoons they can bring their parents along to a play session and share the fun with them!
Kids team (5 – 11)
+-Do you love working with children? We’re excited that Satellites is going to be an epic week for the kids of all the youth leaders on site – and we need a brilliant team to help make that happen. There will be a couple of main sessions each day, plus a range of afternoon activities. Alongside games, drama, experiments, crafts and the kids on-site at Satellites will be encouraged to explore what it looks like to put God at the centre of their lives in a way that is suitable and engaging for them, as well as making friends and having a lot of fun along the way!
Night Stewards
+-We need a skilled team of stewards to help us keep everyone safe on-site throughout Satellites.
This includes a team of night stewards to keep an eye on everything when everyone is asleep.
It would be a huge bonus if you know the phonetic alphabet and you’re comfortable using a radio!
Pastoral
+-As a member of the pastoral team you will be part of a wider team coming alongside young people and their youth leaders as they pray for one another. The model of prayer ministry Satellites uses is active, open and encouraging.
Active: we are all active participants, both the person praying and the person being prayed for.
Open: We are open to the work of the Holy Spirit.
Encouraging: We expect God to speak and encourage, not to discourage.
The role will involve mentoring and apprenticing young people and their youth leaders to actively pray for one another. It is not about praying for others primarily. It is about skilling and equipping everyone on site so that they can go home and continue to pray for one another rather than have to wait another year for a festival! There is also a space for the team to go slightly deeper in prayer with young people. This opens a place for conversation but the emphasis is always on prayer and for youth leaders/friends to be a part of that time and space to pray. Pastoral care and good safeguarding practice remain a key priority.
Production
+-The Production Team is a behind-the-scenes team that is involved in almost every aspect of the event. Whether it’s delivering furniture to venues, fixing toilets and showers, putting up the fencing onsite or installing all the staging around site, the production team is involved in it all. The days are varied - sometimes quiet, sometimes busy, but never boring. The team is open to anyone able to help lift and shift things, those who are organised, those who like seeing a job through the completion and those who are up for a lot of fun whilst doing it.
Satellites Store
+-Love chatting to people? Always wish you’d owned your own shop? The Satellites Store might be the place for you! The Satellites Store is where we’ll be selling our limited-edition Satellites merch from – as well as books and resources to help young people (and their youth leaders!) in their walk with God. You’ll be responsible for keeping the Store looking great, chatting to customers and using the tills to take payment.
Site Management
+-Skate
+-Sports
+-Know your Spike Ball from your Four Square? Able to referee a game of footie or organise a wide game? Come and join the sports team! We’re going to run an epic sports programme that everyone – regardless of their skill and experience – can join in with. We’re looking for some passionate sport fans that are up for hosting all sorts of games throughout the week – as well as helping young people to explore how putting God at the centre of our lives can impact our attitude on the pitch/court/field.
Stewarding
+-We need a skilled team of stewards to help us keep everyone safe on-site throughout Satellites. You’ll be put into groups, tasked with patrolling the site, helping delegates, checking wristbands as people go into different venues and help respond to any emergency situations that arise. This role will involve being on your feet for a chunk of time so you’ll need to be prepared for that and bring some comfy shoes you can wear. It would be a huge bonus if you know the phonetic alphabet and you’re comfortable using a radio! We aim to move your duties around so you won’t be doing the same job all week as we know that can get a bit boring.
As well as needing a team of stewards to look after everyone during the day, we also need a bunch of responsible night stewards to keep an eye on everything when everyone is asleep. - If this is you, please select the Night Stewards Team
Teams Hub
+-Tech
+-Are you technically minded or part of the sound/visuals/lighting team at your church or youth group? If so, we’re looking to gather a bunch of keen, eager and skilled people to be on our tech team. This could involve running the sound desk in a seminar, being on hand to do band changeovers after hours, setting up seminars or kids sessions or even doing screen words in the main venue. Basically if you can plug it in and it makes a noise, you’ll have something to do with it!
The Warehouse
+-We need a couple of people who are happy to do some lifting, moving and organising. The Warehouse is where we keep all our deliveries, equipment, resources etc. You’ll need to be happy to move things around site, help other team members find what they need and get those items checked in and out.
