Camping
At Satellites, youth groups have the opportunity to camp together for the week! Come and be part of the fun!
In the run up to the event we will allocate you to a ‘village’ with enough room for your group to camp safely alongside other youth groups that have travelled from the same geographical area as you. The space we assign to your group is based on the number of tents and other accommodation that you’ve let us know you’re bringing so please make sure your booking is as accurate as possible!
If you’d like to camp with another church or group(s), please put this in the 'Want to be near other groups?' section and we’ll do our best to accommodate this. And, if for any reason there’s a group near you which you might not want to camp beside, please let us know without any embarrassment – there could be lots of good reasons for this.
You’ll need to work out the sleeping arrangements for your group (including sourcing all tents and other camping equipment you might need), and any communal marquees or gazebos for your group to gather in – particularly for eating together or hanging out in if it starts to rain! Again, please let us know on your booking if you are bringing a marquee with you so that we factor that into your village space.
If members of your group have accessibility requirements, please make sure you give us further details in the 'Accessibility needs' box so that we can allocate you to the most suitable camping area.
Please note, we are currently not planning on having a camping shop on-site so you’ll need to bring all equipment and spares with you.
Camping not your thing?
If this is likely to be a barrier to you coming, please do get in touch so we can chat though options. We might be able to link you up with another church near to you who are coming and can help with the practicalities. Here are a few thoughts in the meantime:
- Caravans
If leaders in your group want to bring or hire a caravan then they’re very welcome – they’ll just need to pay for the appropriate electrical hook up before they arrive. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for delivery of any hired items – this will need to be arranged for midday onwards when you’re allowed onsite.
- Tent hire
If your young people aren’t likely to have their own tents then you might want to look into hiring them. We’re working on sourcing a company to partner with to help you with this, but in the meantime, a quick google search will give you options – including some who’ll pitch the tents for you!
- Camping tips
Keep your eyes on our socials over the year as we’re planning on releasing some handy tips from seasoned campers with the best advice for thriving under canvas! This will include catering advice and recipes as well as top tips.
Power
Electrical hook-ups are available on the campsite for use in communal areas for cooking, lighting, phone charging etc. There will be a charge to add this for the week - £115 for a 16 Amp hook-up and £230 for a 32 Amp hook-up. Group leaders can purchase an electrical hookup on the group leader account page.
- Deadlines
The final deadline for adding electric hook ups will be 9th June 2025. As a rough guide, with a 16 Amp hook-up, you could plug in an urn, fridge, lights and charge a few phones - or power a single caravan. - Power consumption
Please note the village hosts will have a list of all those on their site who’ve paid for hook ups. During the event they will be monitoring how much power each camping group is using. Practically, this means not adding multiple extension leads as this can cause a safety risk.
- Connectors
For the 16 Amp hook up you’ll need to bring a 16 Amp socket to a normal 13 Amp connector, for the 32 Amp hook up you’ll need two of these. The hook-up point will be brought to your camping group, so you’ll just need to bring a standard sized hook-up lead for a campsite.
There has been issues with some hook up cables. We suggest that you only use adaptors with built in trip switches.
These are some examples that have suggested.
