When it comes to 10 to 15 year olds, Labour is the party of choice. But the reality is the majority of young people say they wouldn't vote for anyone at all. It seems they're not fully sold on the whole political scene.
Things got pretty interesting leading up to the 2019 election when Labour was attracting more prospective voters. But right after the election, there was a sharp drop in young people’s support, perhaps because Labour didn't do as well as they hoped.
This isn't just a UK thing. Globally, young people are feeling less satisfied with democracy. Surveys stretching from 1973 to 2020 show a worrying trend. One big reason for this growing disillusionment is economic exclusion. Young people around the world are feeling the pinch, and it's affecting how they see democracy. They want to see a fairer system that includes them and doesn't leave them behind.1
